Aims and scope of the journal
Ecology Journal (former Bangladesh Journal of Ecology), (website: https://esbangladesh.org, ISSN, Print- 2957-4471 & Online- 2957-448X) is an open access and peer reviewed journal published by the Ecological Society of Bangladesh, since 2019. The journal publishes original research papers, review articles and scientific notes. Manuscripts on any of the following fields related to insects, spiders, mites and rodents will be considered for publication:
Scientific Papers are invited from all over the world. Manuscript will normally be sent to referees for confidential and critical appraisal. The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit all manuscripts as it deems fit including its acceptance and rejection.
Mode of submission
Authors are requested to submit their manuscript to the member secretary of the editorial board through electronic submission process via email: ecologibangladesh@gmail.com
Terms of submission
Papers intended for publication in the journal must not have been submitted elsewhere. for publication. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the article has been approved for publication in the Ecology Journal by all the co-authors. It is also the authors' responsibility to ensure that the articles emanating from a particular institution are submitted with the approval of the necessary institution. Only an acknowledgment from the editorial office confirms the date of receipt. Further correspondence and proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for revision if needed. It is a requisition for submission of a paper that the authors permit editing of the paper for its readability. At least one of the authors must be a member of the Ecological Society of Bangladesh.
Instructions for authors
Bangladesh Journal of Ecology (ISSN Print: 2708-6356, ISSN Online: 2708-6364, URL: bsmrau.edu.bd/bjoe) is an official journal of the Ecological Society of Bangladesh. The Journal has an international scope with broad constituency of scientists in the ecological perspective of life sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, basic sciences, engineering, business administration and humanities, and annually publishes original articles, review papers and technical notes. A number of editorial members guide manuscripts through the review process, and properly formatted papers are accepted for publication. Authors from all concerns of the above areas are requested to submit manuscripts for publication to this journal. At least one author must be a member of the Ecological Society of Bangladesh. We ensure speedy responses to authors and rapid publication, with all papers being reviewed by at least two independent referees.
Manuscript preparation
Language: English
Spelling: The Journal uses US spelling.
Units: All measurements must be given in SI or SI-derived units.
Abbreviations: All papers must conform to the latest edition of the International Code of Botanical/Zoological Nomenclature. Upon its first use in the title, abstract and text, the common name of a species should be followed by the scientific name (genus, species and authority) in parentheses. Genus names should not be abbreviated at the beginning of paragraphs.
Structure of the manuscript
Manuscripts should be written in the following order: title page, abstract and key works, text, acknowledgements (if any), references, appendices (if any), figure and legends and tables (each table completes with title and footnotes).
Title page: The title page should contain – the title of the paper, the full names and addresses of the authors. The full name, designation, postal and email address plus telephone number of the correspondent for the manuscript should be sent. The corresponding author must be marked by putting asterisk (*) on his/her last name.
Title: The title should be short, informative and written in block letters. Abbreviations should not be used in the title. Example- MATING PROPENSITY OF BUMBLEBEE REARED IN DIFFERENT PHOTOPERIODIC REGIMES
Authors and affiliation: Include names of all authors, given first and middle initial (if any) and full family name (last name) with affiliation.

Running title: A short running title (less than 40 characters) should also be provided. ExampleMating behavior of bumblebee.
Abstract: All articles must have a brief abstract that states in 250 words or fewer. The abstract must contains objective, basic procedures, main findings and principal conclusions of the study. The abstract should not contain abbreviations or references.
Key words: Four to eight key words should be supplied below the abstract. Example-Aging, fitness, sexual selection
Text: Authors should use the following sub-headings to divide the sections of their manuscript: Introduction, Materials and Methods/Methodology, Results, and Discussion. Results and Discussion can be presented either separately or combinely.
Format for text and citations: Doc format, Times New Roman font, 12 point, double space, separate paragraphs with a space, left justify the text and no page breaks. The authors should use block letters and bold style for titles of major sections (Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods/Methodology, Results, and Discussion, Acknowledgments, References) and sub sections within major sections. The Methods and Results should be written in the past tense e.g. Percentage of protein in the cotton plant was determined by modified Kjaldahl method. The reference to tables and figures should be written in the present tense e.g. The data are shown in table 1. The passive voice should be used but there are times when the active voice is more appropriate e.g. Figure 1 shows the result.
Acknowledgments: The source of financial grants and other funding may be acknowledged, including a frank declaration of the authors’ industrial links and affiliations. The contribution of colleagues or institutions should also be acknowledged. Personal thanks and thanks to anonymous reviewers are not appropriate.
References in the text: Literature citations in the text should indicate the author’s surname (last name) with the year of publication in parentheses e.g. Karim (2010). If there are two authors, ‘and’ must be used between the two names e.g. Karin and Pandit (2016). When reference is made to a work by more than two authors, the first name followed by et al. should be used e.g. Banna et al. (2015). If there is more than one work by the same authors in the same year are cited, they should be distinguished by the letters a, b, c, etc.
Reference list: All references cited in the text, tables or figures must be listed as ascending alphabetical order. The title of the work and name of the journal should be written in full. Examples of referenced style are given below.
